Pre-school - 2-6 yrs

Welcome to our preschool room, where we embrace the joy of learning through play! The provocations are intentionally set up to stimulate curiosity and creativity. With a focus on empathy and emotional development, we provide a nurturing environment where children build essential social skills and learn to express themselves confidently. This is a space where  pre-schoolers can freely explore and challenge themselves. It is a place where children’s interests are acknowledged and enough open-ended resources are provided for them to extend their learning at their own pace and in their own way.  We build on and encourage their self help skills and foster their independence

We believe in the concept of  tuakana teina relationships where the younger children learn from the older children and Ako where both the children and teachers learn from each other. This is like a home environment where siblings learn from each other.

Rituals and routines are a valuable part of a toddler’s world as through these a toddler feels a sense of empowerment as they can predict what happens next

We work in partnership with the whanau and the wider community like The Waimauku primary school and Kahui Ako o Kaipara.

We visit the primary school twice every term to familiarize children. We have heaps of opportunities to have conversations with a  primary teacher that enables us to design our school transition program. We prioritize teaching children essential self-help skills and fostering independence, preparing them confidently for their journey into school.

A Community of Learning | Kāhui Ako is a group of education and training providers that form around children and young people's learning pathways, and work together to help them achieve their full potential.
